Biography:
Taylor Bevis was a member of the REACH CoLab from its launch in August 2013 until his successful thesis defense in December 2015, Initially, he assisted multiple projects as an undergraduate student.  His thesis research focused on microscale phase change heat transfer to thermally manage high heat flux electronics.  His interests include microscale heat transfer, microfluidics, and MEMS processing.

After graduation, Taylor Bevis is working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a Microfabrication Engineer. Currently, Taylor is the president of Pella Windows and Doors.

Kevin Westhoff

Biography:
Kevin Westhoff worked in the REACH CoLab from August 2013 until his graduation in May 2016. His research focused on innovative solutions for the thermal management of li-ion batteries. His interests include renewable energy, grid storage, advanced manufacturing, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

After successfully defending his thesis, Kevin accepted a position as a Propulsion Development Engineer at Blue Origin. Currently, Kevin is working as a mechanical engineer for Ball Aerospace.

Biography:
Torben was a postdoctoral scholar in the REACH CoLab where his principal focus was on problems exhibiting very high heat fluxes.  He possesses significant background in applied laser spectroscopy, which stems from his doctoral research on biodiesel combustion emissions. Torben has experience in particle accelerator engineering, including work on beam target analysis and design, radioactive material handling, and radiation shielding design.  His other research experience includes the mathematics of impacts, high-speed scientific photography, and compressible flow.

Currently, Torben is a Research Scientist at the Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory.

Biography:
Jonas Adler was the first graduate student to join the REACH CoLab in the fall of 2013. He has a varied background, with over seven years of experience as an automotive technician in addition to two bachelor’s degrees. His master’s research focuses on a novel method of improving the thermal efficiency of internal combustion engines via waste heat recovery. His interests include heat transfer, internal combustion engines, and materials.

Currently, Jonas is a Project Engineer at BorgWarner, Inc.

Biography:
Achyut Paudel joined the REACH CoLab in August 2015. He has a background in teaching undergraduate students, working in renewable energy based projects, mobile robotic systems and project management. His interests includes Thermal/Renewable Energy Systems, Fluid Dynamics and Turbomachinery.

Currently, Achyut is working as a Senior Engineer at Cummins, Inc.

Biography:
Bryan joined the REACH CoLab in January of 2015. As part of his thesis work, Bryan developed a model for conjugate heat transfer during microchannel flow boiling with validation from experimental data.

Biography:
Jensen Hoke joined the REACH CoLab in June 2016. As a Master’s student, Jensen’s research focused on heat transfer enhancements in two-phase, microchannel heat exchangers used for laser diode cooling.

Currently, Jensen is an engineer at CZero Solutions in Fort Collins, CO.

Biography:
Luke Giugliano started with the REACH CoLab in August 2017. His project was a collaboration with the Colorado School of Mines aimed at significantly reducing the carbon footprint of steam methane reformers as a method for power generation. His interests include: heat exchanger design, waste heat recovery, and thermodynamic optimization.

Currently, Luke is a Mechanical Design Engineer at Ball Aerospace.

Josh Richey joined the REACH CoLab in May 2017. His current research investigates boiling characteristics for two-phase microchannel heat exchangers, used in thermal management systems for high heat flux electronics . His interests include thermal and renewable energy systems and heat transfer.

Biography:
John Simon began working with the REACH CoLab in May of 2016. He was primarily a fabricator when he joined the lab, constructing the large structures and welding the system piping for the turbo-compression cooling system. After completing a MECH 498 research project his senior year, he was accepted into the graduate school at CSU. For his Master's Thesis, he developed and validated a high fidelity compact heat exchanger model.

Currently, John is a Research Engineer at Mantel Technologies.

Biography:
Nick joined the REACH CoLab in August of 2018. His thesis research involved the modeling and design of a volume optimized turbo-compression cooling system to improve the fuel economy of marine diesel engines. His interests include thermodynamics, energy efficiency, and waste heat recovery systems.

Currently, Nick is a product development engineer at a climate tech startup.

Zach Gilvey joined the REACH CoLab in June of 2018 to help conduct consulting work with an industry partner for next generation electronics cooling technology. Biography:
Alex Grauberger joined the REACH CoLab in April of 2016 as an undergraduate research assistant. During his time in the lab, he supported the design, fabrication, and experimental validation of the first two iterations of turbo-compression cooling technology. His graduate research focused on the experimental investigation of the second prototype to quantify its performance characteristics over a range of operating conditions. After successfully defending his dissertation, Alex was contracted to help scale an early-stage clean-tech system at Alphabet's moonshot factory.

Ethan Markey started working at REACH CoLab as an undergrad in 2019. While working through his Master’s, he researched the technical feasibility and financial implications of integrating various thermal energy storage technologies with carbon capture at natural gas combined cycle power plants. After graduating, he was hired at Carbon America to continue in carbon capture research.
